Dr. Rosemary Mazanet is a physician-scientist, biotechnology executive, and board director with more than 30 years of leadership across clinical development, regulatory strategy, corporate governance, and healthcare investment. She has extensive experience guiding drug, gene, and cell therapy programs from early development through regulatory approval and commercialization.
Dr. Mazanet has served in multiple Chief Medical Officer, interim CEO, and independent board roles across public and private biotechnology companies, including oncology, immunology, gene therapy, and cell therapy platforms. Over her career, she has led or contributed to the filing of 11 INDs, multiple BLAs and sBLAs, IDEs, and a CE Mark, and has presented at FDA Advisory Committee meetings. Her expertise spans clinical trial design, regulatory interactions, translational strategy, and portfolio prioritization.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Mazanet was Head of Clinical Research for Oncology and Infectious Diseases at Amgen, overseeing global clinical development during a formative period for the biotechnology industry. She subsequently transitioned into healthcare investing, serving as General Partner and Chief Scientific Officer at Oracle Partners, a $1B healthcare hedge fund, and later as Co-Managing Director and CSO at Apelles Investment Management, advising on biotechnology and healthcare investments across public and private markets. She continues to act as a senior diligence advisor to venture capital, public equity, and banking institutions.
Dr. Mazanet has held numerous governance and advisory roles, including Independent Director and committee chair positions for public companies, and is currently active as a board director and strategic advisor within the life sciences sector. In parallel, she has maintained a strong academic and philanthropic leadership profile, serving for two decades as a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, now Emeritus, and as Co-Chair of the University’s $3.5B capital campaign. She has also served in leadership roles with the Wharton School’s Leonard Davis Institute.
Dr. Mazanet received her MD and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and fellowship training in Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she was on faculty. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
She brings to boards and partners a rare combination of deep clinical credibility, regulatory execution experience, capital markets insight, and seasoned governance judgment, particularly in complex, high-risk biotechnology and advanced therapeutic platforms.
