Kevin Casey, JD, is the Founder and Principal of Casey Strategic Insights, LLC (CSI), where he provides strategic guidance to leaders at the intersection of higher education, research, and industry. He brings over four decades of experience in state and federal government and more than 30 years at Harvard University, where he managed federal, state, and local government relations and advanced key institutional initiatives. His expertise spans federal research funding, regulation, and the translation of academic discoveries into commercial application.
At Harvard, Mr. Casey served as Senior Advisor and previously as Associate Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications, collaborating with senior leaders and faculty to shape advocacy strategies that strengthened research funding and fostered university–industry partnerships. He played key leadership roles in major institutional development projects, including Harvard’s 2011 Institutional Master Plan for Allston and the early planning of the Enterprise Research Campus.
Mr. Casey also co-chaired the initiative that launched Landmark Bio, LLC, a first-of-its-kind collaboration among Harvard, MIT, Cytiva, FujiFilm, and Alexandria Real Estate, to advance cell and gene therapy manufacturing. After founding CSI, he continued to advise Landmark Bio’s leadership team on business strategy and client development through the company’s early operational phase.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Casey served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Edward J. Markey and held senior roles in the Massachusetts Legislature and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. He has been recognized as a national expert on research policy and technology transfer, contributing to the founding of The Science Coalition and serving on the Board of the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research.
Mr. Casey earned his undergraduate degree from Merrimack College and his JD from the New England School of Law. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
